An Originally Written & Illustrated Child Leukemia Support Coloring Book
“Landon is a little boy that has been fighting leukemia for 2 years with courage, strength, and love for his other cancer buddies. It’s been his mission to try and help out the other kids who are hurting or having a rough time, even when he isn’t feeling well. An amazing artist friend wanted to cheer him up and made him his own coloring book; the book is all about Landon (or any other childhood cancer fighter) the superhero fighting evil clones. The art work is amazing, as is the story. This really helps put the “fight” against cancer in terms that children can relate to and not be so scary. Landon loved it and I know it helped him.” | Tracy, Landon’s Mom

CHALLENGE
A good friend of mine has an amazing little boy named Landon. He is full of love and compassion. Landon LOVES Super Heroes and unfortunately, our little super hero happens to have cancer.
When I found out about Landon’s diagnosis I felt I had to do something. The only thing I know how to do to vent my emotions is to draw; so that’s what I did. I decided to draw something that would help Landon get through the long hours spent at the hospital, but that also meant something to him. Something to give him hope, to show him that he is the true hero.
SOLUTION
I wrote a story featuring Landon as a superhero and his cancer as his foe personified as the “Evil Clone” and his minions, the “Malignant Cells.” The story is about the epic battle that happens between them. The book is 18 pages of line-art illustrations geared towards children ages 3-10.
RESULT
Landon loved his personalized coloring book. So much so he decided all kids with cancer needed one. He asked me if he could have it printed and distributed to other cancer patients across the United States. I said “of course!” I made the book for him and he could do whatever he wanted with it. A GoFundMe fundraiser was made and $1500 was raised which send out about 300 books to kids across the country. You can read more about “Landon’s Loves” on his facebook page.
